STEM Racing is the largest global STEM education initiative of its kind, with participation from over 1.83 million students from more than 29,000 schools across over 80 countries.
Students aged nine to 19 design, build and race miniature, compressed-air-powered Formula 1 cars using professional 3D design technology. The 15-centimetre scale models are raced on 20-metre tracks.
The initiative tests students’ proficiency in project management, marketing and enterprise - mirroring the multifaceted operations of a real-world F1 team.
Awards were given after careful deliberation from a panel of 83 judges from STEM, motorsport, marketing and education, considering criteria across engineering, design, project management, teamwork, verbal presentations and racing performance.
Prizes were awarded across numerous categories, including the World Champions award itself, which went to the Australian team Lunar from Brighton Grammar School, Melbourne.

Lunar beat 82 other teams from 34 countries to lift the trophy ahead of German team Blue Wolves and United Kingdom-based squad Unity Racing, who also picked up the FIA Scrutineering Award.
Hussain Hanbazazah, Aramco's vice president of Communications Operations and Corporate Citizenship, crowned the Lunar team Aramco STEM Racing World Champions 2025.
“Year after year, the Aramco STEM Racing finals keep surprising us,” said Hanbazazah. “But this year, it’s totally different. This year, 1.8 million young people, from 29,000 schools, in more than 80 countries, have participated in the initial stages.
“At Aramco, we are recognised globally as a leading supplier of energy to the world. But to be more than that, we have taken a path that you [participants] have taken to be here: a path full of creativity, innovation, engineering skills - and of course, making friends along the way.
“We believe STEM skills empower today’s opportunities and tomorrow’s breakthroughs.”

“Our connectedness as a team has been instrumental in this success. We came third last year, and we were so determined to go two better, so to achieve that is just awesome.”
Lunar also won awards for Best Engineered Car, supported by Williams F1 Team, and Fastest Car, supported by Mercedes F1 Team - securing nominations for numerous other accolades.
Khalid A. Al Zamil, senior vice president of Corporate Communications at Aramco, said: “I would like to congratulate all the competitors at this year’s Aramco STEM Racing World Finals who have shown such impressive talent and demonstrated their dedication, teamwork and passion for STEM on a global stage.
