Speed. It’s at the heart of why we watch Formula 1, why we gasp in awe, and why the greatest motorsport moments take place in the blink of an eye. That’s why Aramco has introduced a new award for 2026.

The Aramco Speed Master Award marks the purest metric of motorsport. That is, top speed, across every Formula 1 grand prix of 2026.
Race by race, Aramco and F1 chart the top speed during a grand prix and the driver with the most Speed Master titles is crowned the Aramco Speed Master Champion at the end of the season.

Here’s how it works. Each car’s speed is measured by the onboard signal that’s delivered through the car’s telemetry and then sent to the F1 trackside hub - the Event Technical Centre - and then transferred to the F1 Media and Technology Centre in Biggin Hill, UK, to be backed up in the cloud.

Infrastructure built by F1 - Full Data Delivery (FDD) manages the storage and execution of this data, including the Speed Master Data. Each driver’s top speed across a grand prix is picked up and then synced up with onboard footage.

It’s a natural synergy between Aramco, F1’s Global Energy Partner. Since the start of Aramco and F1’s partnership in 2020, Aramco has featured on broadcast graphics relating to speed - the Speed Trap that shows individual drivers' speed on a specific section of each circuit, and the Speed Trap Classification, which ranks the top speeds in that section

Speed Master brings that partnership to a new level - and you’ll be able to see the results on F1’s official social media channels - or by scrolling down.

So who do you think will win the inaugural title of Aramco Speed Master Champion 2026?
